UPDATE: ISU Offense vs. Tech Defense is now up as well.
UPDATE 2: Special Teams is up
This is where defensive coordinators earn their pay and make their reputations. Texas Tech presents the most productive offense in the country, yet I think their are reasons for optimism as ISU squares off in Lubbock. Read the matchup analysis and let me know your comments.

This is going to be a fun matchup to watch. In many ways I wish I could watch this a football fan, not a Cyclone fan because it will be an interesting matchup to see how it plays out. I could create an argument for this to swing very favorablly and also very unfavorably for our Cyclones. I posted my look at the matchup which you can find in the football group or just follow the link below.

What is different?
Sunday afternoon I sat watched my son play in a flag football game and listened in on the conversations of a couple Cyclone fans in the background. Two things really stood out to me from their conversation and from what I have seen, their conversation has been

The Cyclones really need this game to be over early. The longer Toledo hangs around, the more dangerous they become. This may be the most pivotal game ISU will face going forward in determining the fortures of our season. Click the link below to read the Keys to a Cyclone Victory.

Some big match ups Satruday will take place in special teams. I don't think special teams will be a draw and they hold the potential to be a huge factor in the outcome of the game. Follow the link below to read the analysis of the matchups and let me know your comments.

ISU's defense be may, "gasp", underrated. Now before you think I have been drinking too much leftover "koolaid" from Saturday, the ISU defense still has a ways to go and is not yet top division Big 12, but it isn't bad anymore either. This week should be a good experience for our defense with both the road game atmosphere along with an opponet with a mix of young and experienced players I just posted by breakdown of when Toledo has the ball and you can read it by following the link below.

Maybe it is the halo of the victory this weekend, but it didn't seem like it was time today already to being the anaysis of the matchups for Saturday. I am started this week with a look at the Cyclone offense vs. the Toledo defense. This may pose a great opportunity for ISU's offense to get on track and gain confidence, but their could be some surprises in store for the Cyclones. Take a read.

While I probably should have gotten this up prior to the win Saturday. I finally got my thoughts together and posted in the football group discussion that has been on my mind for awhile. At the risk of sounding like a bandwagoner talking about this so close to a big win, I really like this staff. (I really liked them last week too) Not because of the losses or wins, but because I think the way they are choosing to build this can really be something special, not today, maybe not next season, b

What a great way for Iowa State to get is first win under new coach Gene Chizik. Beating Iowa is always nice, but more important is what this win can do for our team. Gone are any concerns of players not buying in to what the new staff is doing. Gone are any concerns about the psyche of the team. Bret showed us the Bret of old, while Iowa States defense shutdown the Hawkeyes. Sometimes you need a big game to establish an identity for a defense and I think this defense really came together tod

Iowa and Iowa State both have their strengths and weakness, but in the final assessment, it is ISU's that will need to step up their performance. In what may be an overlooked swing to the outcome of the game Saturday field position will be strongly impacted by the special teams.

Just posted my analysis of the Iowa offense vs. the Iowa State defense. I think we will surprise both our fans and the hawkeye fans in the stadium with our performance. (And those watching on the versus network). Look for a hard hitting battle. To see why I think a surprise is in order go to the football group or click the link below.

Comparing the Starts 2006 vs. 2007
Let’s take a look at where we are two games into the 2007 season. The most important metric is obviously wins, where we are down 2 wins vs. last year, but there are some other interesting differences and similarities. First let’s look at the ru

I closed my keys to the game with, “A big night from Meyer in a game where ISU wins the turnover battle and puts consistent pressure on Sanders and jubilant fans are driving home Saturday night. Lose these keys to the game and a game loss will likely follow.” We didn’t and we did.

Guys and Gals this one scares me. Not just because of last week, but because of the matchups. Let's start by taking a look at how the ISU defense lines up against an experienced Panther offense. UPDATE: ISU Offense vs. UNI Defense is now up as well. UPDATE 2: SPECIAL TEAMS IS NOW AVAILABLE.
ContinueI read an article this weekend in that great sports rag, The Wall Street Journal, entitiled, "Making the First Three Seconds Count." After reading how schools across the country are using technology ranging from 3-D infrared goggles with software developed by doctors to improve visual recognition and vision to custom video games that include playbooks, scouting reports, and game plans, I did some additional research and was very impressed by what schools around the country are investing in de
